40 years after the passing of renowned driver Gilles Villeneuve in Belgium, we paid tribute to him with unique works in his likeness. Throughout the week of the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, his image shone brightly on a variety of media, bringing together a host of motorsport enthusiasts.
The year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve. The Quebecer was one of the most adored Formula 1 drivers in history. More than his victories, it was his great human qualities and fierce determination on the track that dazzled fans the world over. An ultra-spectacular driver who never gave up, despite mechanical problems and bad luck, Gilles Villeneuve entered Formula 1 legend through the front door.
Having passed away on Circuit Zolder in Belgium, we felt it was important to create a special tribute to this outstanding sportsman during the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix. To this end, our artists created unique works of art dedicated to Gilles Villeneuve: two Ferrari wraps, three 7-metre-high tarpaulins and two murals. These works were installed on our partner D2P's building, located at the entrance to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, so that they could be seen by the public at this not-to-be-missed event.
In addition, we created living artworks, accompanied by 21 ballet dancers. Twenty ballerinas represented the twenty drivers on the starting grid, and the last one paid tribute to Gilles Villeneuve. She was dressed differently to stand out from the crowd. The group of dancers took to the airfield, Circuit Zolder and the old Spa circuit for photo and video shoots, sometimes accompanied by Italian four-wheelers.
Indeed, a 488 Challenge and an 812 Superfast, iconic Ferrari models, were personalized by our artist Art. Rotondo, in the effigy of driver Villeneuve. Portraits, catchphrases, old cars, Ferrari colors... everything that recalls the sportsman's career has been taken up and highlighted in precise artistic drawings.
An exciting artistic week, which dazzled the eyes of thousands of Formula 1 fans!
